(1) Symptoms
a. The symptoms of potassium deficiency are characterized by upward curling of the leaves, and the leaves turn pale green after the middle of summer, and then gradually become more severe from the bottom leaves to the parietal leaves. In the case of severe potassium deficiency, the main veins of the old leaves are shrunk near the main vein, and necrosis occurs at the leaf margin or near the leaf margin, forming irregular edges and perforations.
b. With the appearance of leaf symptoms, the new shoots become thinner, the flower buds decrease, and the fruit shape is small and premature.
(2) Conditions of occurrence
a. It is easy to express potassium deficiency in fine sand, acid soil and soil with less organic matter. Excessive lime application in sandy soil can reduce the availability of potassium. When applying nitrogen fertilizer in mild potassium-deficient soil, it stimulates the growth of fruit trees and is more likely to show potassium deficiency.
b. Peach trees are deficient in potassium and are susceptible to freezing or drought damage. However, after applying potassium fertilizer, magnesium deficiency is often caused. Excessive potassium fertilizer can cause boron deficiency. When the result is too much, the potassium content in the leaves is lowered. At the beginning of July, when the potassium content of the leaves is less than 1%, symptoms of potassium deficiency can be seen.
(3) Correction method In the orchard, potassium deficiency, in addition to the lack of potassium in the soil, other elements lack or interaction, can also cause potassium deficiency. In order to avoid potassium deficiency, organic fertilizers such as soil fertilizer or grass straw should be added.
