Gold Aluminum Extrusion Co., Ltd. Ohio Branch Closes Aluminum Plant

The Golden Aluminum Extrusion LLC in Ohio, said that the weak aluminum demand in the United States is a disaster for them.



Because of the weak demand in the construction industry and the increase in raw material prices, they have idled this smelter since last May. The factory mainly produces aluminum doors and windows.



MaryFrazzini, human resources manager, said that the rapid rise in aluminum prices (19175, 160.00, 0.84%, bar) had a huge impact on them.



The company said that the stoppage of the smelter was only temporary and that the main situation improved and they immediately restarted. They bought this smelter from Alcoa last year.



Earlier this year, Indalex had closed two smelters, also because of the downturn in the US construction industry.
