Teijin’s Dupont City Factory resumes production after the earthquake

Tokyo, Japan (March 28, 2011) DuPont Teijin Film Co., Ltd. announced on March 25 that its PET film factory in Ibaraki, Japan, has resumed production. The plant was shut down on March 11 due to the impact of the earthquake and tsunami.

Another DuPont Teijin factory in Utsunomiya, Japan, was also shut down after the earthquake and has not yet restarted production. However, the company said it expects to restart production at the end of April and will gradually resume full production.

A spokesperson for Teijin said that it has increased the production of a PET film factory in Niigata, Japan, to make up for the losses caused by the other two factories. In addition, Teijin’s DuPont factories in China, India and the United States are also used as temporary backup plants.

Teijin, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, said in a statement that the impact of the disaster on its overall business is not yet clear.
