Introduction to the feeler
A gauge consisting of a set of thin steel sheets with different thickness steps (see figure). The feeler gauge is used to measure the gap size. When the test is qualified, it can be judged by the stop method, or by the examiner according to the tightness of the feeler fit with the surface to be tested. The feeler gauge is generally made of stainless steel, the thinnest being 0.02 mm and the thickest being 3 mm. Between 0.02 and 0.1 mm, the thickness difference of each steel sheet is 0.01 mm; from 0.1 to 1 mm, the thickness difference of each steel sheet is generally 0.05 mm; from 1 mm or more, the thickness difference of the steel sheet is 1 mm.
