Characteristics and requirements of flow measurement in petroleum storage and operation industry
The oil storage operation industry is also a major user of flow meters. Each year, hundreds of millions of tons of refined oil are transferred from the oil depot to the gas station or the next level of oil depot and then sent to the end user. Tens of thousands of gas stations are scattered around the country, and each gas station is equipped with a number of tankers.
The refined oil is mainly oil gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, lubricating oil, aviation gasoline and other varieties. Since the tank truck, the tanker or the fuel tank of the vehicle that receives the oil are all mounted on the movable equipment, the oil is metered by the flow meter and sent to the receiving side through a flexible pipe such as a crane pipe or a flexible pipe. Because oil is a flammable and explosive substance, safety is the primary concern. Since the high-speed flowing oil and the inner wall of the pipe and the pipe are easy to generate static electricity, the pipeline design should have electrostatic grounding measures to introduce the generated electrostatic charge into the earth. The electrostatic grounding system also requires interlocking with the oil control system. Once the electrostatic grounding fails, the oil is immediately stopped. In addition, the oil storage operation industry flow measurement has the following characteristics and requirements.
1) The measured medium is expensive, and the measurement accuracy is high, and the general requirement is ±0.5%R.
2) Other refined oils other than heavy oil and residual oil are cleaner. The oil flow rate in the pipeline at the time of oiling is higher and more stable, so it is easy to obtain higher metering accuracy.
3) The measurement data is used for trade settlement, so the measurement results are required to be easily observed by both the supply and demand sides, thus reflecting fairness and transparency. Some meters, such as tankers, should display both the unit price and the total price in addition to the total amount of oil.
4) Flow measurement instruments are mostly used in conjunction with batch control equipment, and can be automatically controlled according to preset fuel quantity, such as the batch control system discussed in Chapter 5 of this book. The new tanker is also equipped with a card reader and printer to read out the remaining amount of the IC card purchased by the user and notify the control system when the amount is about to run out, closing the valve. The refueling report is automatically printed after refueling.
