Aquafil Expands Production of Nylon Composites in China

Italy's Aquafil SpA, a manufacturer of nylon resin and fiber, will expand its commercial production of nylon engineering plastic composites at its factory in Jiaxing.

Company spokesman Denny Meng said that the initial production capacity is 3,500 tons, and will be based on local market development trends in 2011 and 2012 to increase production capacity. The specific increase in production time has not yet been determined.

As demand from customers around the world grows, Auqafil adds 15 million pounds (about 6,800 tons) of compound capacity at its plant in Cartersville, Georgia.

Aquafil will market its main compound under the Aquamid brand name. Sustainable composites will be marketed under the Econyl brand name, which is based on Aquafil's internal fiber production of post-industrial nylon and post-commercial materials.
