According to Holthausen Group's engineers, the principle is simple: Hydrogen molecules are pumped into the fuel cell, the anode removes the electrons, and the electrons pass through the circuit to Tesla's original battery to charge the battery. The hydrogen ions now re-enter the cathode of the fuel cell where they recombine with the electrons and combine with oxygen to form water which is eventually discharged out of the fuel cell.
