In order to effectively regulate the solid wood furniture market and supervise the enterprise's integrity management, the Municipal Consumer Protection Committee organized the “2016 Solid Wood Furniture Consumption Social Survey” activity, and publicly collected some of the solid wood furniture purchased in this city in recent years, providing free authoritative testing. Understand the current situation and existing problems of the solid wood furniture market.
This social survey was launched in July this year. It was promoted and promoted through the channels of Shanghai TV “News Square”, News Morning News, Xinmin Evening News, Neighboring App and City Consumer Protection Committee WeChat public number. More than 100 consumers were received. Application for registration. After preliminary screening of basic information such as consumer information and furniture purchase vouchers, a total of 59 pieces of solid wood furniture samples from 55 consumers were collected (of which 56 were purchased in physical stores and 3 were purchased on network or TV sales platforms). It involves 17 shopping malls and 47 companies.
In early August of this year, the Furniture Professional Office of the Municipal Consumer Protection Committee organized relevant experts and testing agency staff to go to the consumer's home to test the solid wood furniture products purchased by consumers, and check the materials according to the contract or the standard on the order. After preliminary inspection, it was determined that the materials of 18 samples were consistent with the nominal. For the visual inspection of 41 pieces of furniture products that could not be obtained and needed further testing, the inspectors sealed the samples on site and sent them to Shanghai Quality Supervision and Inspection Technology Research Institute for material testing.

After professional testing, 13 samples were tested with the same material as the nominal material, and 18 samples were not sent for inspection. A total of 26 companies including Shanghai Zhuojia Furniture Co., Ltd. (Nordic E Home) and Yizunxuan were produced. The 31 samples sold were tested to the same material as the nominal. The test materials of the remaining 28 samples were inconsistent with the nominal, and the failure rate was 47%. Among the 47 companies, 27 have no problems with the products, only 57%. This problem is more serious than the previous investigation department expected.

Business is not standardized

This social survey, through the inspection of solid wood furniture and proofreading of relevant purchase vouchers, found that in the current solid wood furniture industry, the phenomenon of unregulated business is more common, mainly reflected in the following aspects:
First, the subject is unclear. The investigation found that the chaos of the furniture business and the irregularity of the authorized agency were more prominent. For example, the physical store of some merchants does not match the actual business. Some merchants are self-employed or authorized dealers, but they do not disclose the relevant authorized agent qualifications in their business premises, as well as the relevant information of the furniture manufacturing enterprises. The relevant documents provided to consumers cannot reflect the clear information of the sales subject. . In this social survey, the information on the furniture orders and invoices provided by consumers is only 43% consistent with the actual distribution companies.
Second, the agreement is unknown. In the process of furniture consumption, according to the consumption habits, the contract between the merchant and the consumer is rare. The merchant generally agrees with the consumer on the commodity information and other customization requirements in the form of an order form. However, the survey found that the order form of most merchants is not standardized, and there are cases of false mark, chaotic mark or even no mark on the material mark part. In this survey, the proportion of merchants' main materials and substrates is only 53% according to the relevant regulations and specifications of the state and industry.

Third, the invoice does not open. Invoices are important documents for consumers to purchase goods and receive services. However, this survey found that merchants do not provide invoices more commonly, only 27% of consumers said that the business issued an invoice. In the invoiced merchant, the proportion of the furniture material information can be indicated on the invoice as 0.

According to the test, the typical material inconsistency is mainly manifested in the following aspects: “Fake the real, shoddy, and non-standard logo”.

This test found that there were 2 cases of furniture samples submitted for the presence of wood-based panels posing as solid wood.
1. Ms. Xu said that she purchased 5 pieces of furniture at a woodware factory in Shanghai in December 2015 for a total price of 11,000 yuan. The nominal product of the order form is “the facade is rubber wood, the other is solid wood, and the back is eucalyptus”. The testing mechanism performs sampling test on the bedside cabinet, and the bottom plate and the side plate of the drawer are respectively plywood and MDF.
2. Mr. Huang said that in June 2016, he bought a bed, a desk, a table and other furniture at a furniture store in Yangpu District, Shanghai. In this test, 11 samples involving 9 furniture manufacturers were involved in the case of low-priced wood posing as high-priced wood.

3. The survey found that the material identification of 15 samples did not use the national standard name and did not comply with the relevant regulations. However, according to the relevant standards for national timber names, there is no name for walnut.
