Samsung invents graphene ball battery, power is increased by 45%, charging speed is increased by 4 times
HC Plastics News: Researchers at Samsung's Advanced Technology Institute, Samsung SDI and National Seoul National University have announced the development of graphene ball batteries, which have a 45% increase in power compared to standard lithium-ion batteries and a fivefold increase in charging speed. The research report was published in the journal Nature Communications. If the battery used to take an hour to fill, the new battery only takes 12 minutes. The new battery still maintains 78% of its charge capacity after 500 cycles.

Samsung researchers said they found a mechanism to synthesize two-dimensional graphene into a 3D-like popcorn-like form using inexpensive silica. This graphene sphere is used in the anode protective layer and cathode material of a lithium ion battery to maintain a stable temperature while increasing the amount of electricity and charging speed.
