New Nissan Leaf solar charging system

The Associated Press Yokohama reported that Japanese carmaker Nissan is testing a super-green charging method to power the Leaf (the world's first electric car), which is solar energy.
Nissan Leaf listed on the market last year, but manufacturers are looking further. They thought that five years later, the lithium battery used in aging electric vehicles could be a power storage provider.
After the earthquake and tsunami, Japan has paid more attention to electricity generation and storage. The power required for the new charging system shown this Monday was provided by 488 solar cells installed on top of the Nissan headquarters building.
Four batteries from the Leaf were installed in a column next to the building to store the electricity generated by the solar cells. This amount of electricity is enough to support the needs of 1800 Leaf a year.
Although people are increasingly concerned about renewable energy sources, power storage is still a huge challenge. Due to concerns about nuclear safety, this concern will continue to grow in Japan. The Hamaoka nuclear power plant has been shut down because of these concerns, and other nuclear power plants will also face this outcome.
Other Japanese automakers such as Toyota and Honda are carrying out similar plans. For example, an energy-saving community equipped with solar facilities is provided for hybrid vehicles.
Electric cars do not emit pollutants, but they require electricity. The source of power generation often creates pollution.
When a Leaf is ready to be scrapped, its battery still maintains 80% of its performance. In addition, a full-featured Leaf battery can provide a home with two days of electricity.
