Japan and South Korea GHS Enforced Export of Chemicals Added

Recently, Japanese and South Korean authoritative departments have successively issued hazardous chemical hazard classification lists, and have mandated the adoption of this classification, which effectively promoted the implementation of GHS (<Globally Harmonized System of Globally Harmonized System of Chemicals) in Japan and South Korea.

On May 23, 2011, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Korea released the “List of Hazardous Chemical Hazard Classifications” on the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection for publicity. The publicity will continue until June 10; including the 318 substance classifications announced on April 15 and the current list. About 615 substances were included in the inventory, of which approximately 500 were identified as toxic chemicals. Once the list was publicized, it will be mandatory for companies to classify and classify the hazards of chemicals according to inventory classification on July 1, 2011. Chemical Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and labels.

The National Institute of Technology Evaluation (NITE) of Japan added 370 chemical substances to the GHS category on June 1st. Up to now, the number of substances collected in the Japanese chemical GHS classification list will increase to 2,231. According to the relevant laws and regulations of Japan's GHS, companies need to make SDSs and labels complying with the Japanese GHS according to Japanese Industrial Standards.

According to the classification of hazardous chemical substances in Japan and South Korea, the Japanese GHS classification does not include categories such as acute hazard classification 5, skin irritation 3, and respiratory hazard classification 2. The Korean GHS classification does not include: flammable liquids, 4 categories, acute Classification of hazards Category 5, skin irritation 3, acute aquatic toxicity 2 and 3 GHS general classification.

The Japanese and South Korean markets have always been an important part of the trade of Chinese chemical companies. The promulgation and implementation of this series of new rules undoubtedly put more and higher demands on Chinese companies' exports. Rui Xu Technology (China REACH Solution Center) experts reminded the Japanese and South Korean companies should pay attention to the progress of GHS implementation in Japan and South Korea, and according to the latest GHS classification production or update product MSDS and labels to ensure that products in the export to Japan and South Korea to take the initiative.
