Epson pushes new products in all-round wearable device field
In response to the market demand for wearable mobile devices, Seiko Epson launched the first smart glasses MoverioBT-100 in 2011. In 2013, it launched the Iron Man Wrist GPS Track Recording Sports Watch SS-701T with integrated rhythm sensing components. In addition, Epson has also launched a new generation of intelligent watches that integrate GPS and motion sensing, heart rate measurement, and new M-Tracer products for golf. The new smart watch is expected to be the fastest in early July. When it is, it will be published in Taiwan.
Yoshiyuki Moriyama, director of Epson's Sensing Systems Division, said that the application of wearable mobile devices has become a hot topic in recent years. According to statistics, the overall market application in 2014 is still in the early stage of industrial development, and the total market size is estimated to be nearly 400. Around 10,000 units, but even so, through the launch of a variety of products from the brand industry, it is estimated that the potential for subsequent growth is endless.
For Epson, considering the maturity of the external application environment and extending through the internal core technology, Epson has launched corresponding wearable products for the three major areas of personal health management, sports demand and visual communication.
In the smart watch segment, the current product development focuses on medical, personal health management and sports wear. In fact, Epson has been working on Seiko since 1969, and has more than ever in watch technology. More than 40 years of experience, and in 1982, Epson also launched a watch with built-in TV viewing function. At the time, this product was used in the 007 series of movies. In 1985, Epson also launched a computer-integrated watch.
This time Epson integrates the existing high-precision sensing, semiconductor and quartz technology, and introduces new wearable watches with sensing, positioning, and mobile measurement capabilities, which are expected to be faster, longer-term, and higher. Features such as precision sensing to achieve product differentiation. At the same time, Epson also integrates the cloud into the platform design, which can store, analyze and correlate the information collected by the wearable device, so that the relevant information is more practical and meaningful.
Sen Shan Jia Xing believes that through the use of terminals such as smart watches and platforms, the information sensed by the terminal can be made more meaningful through the platform, and then the information can be displayed through the terminal devices such as smart glasses. Therefore, creating a better lifestyle is the biggest purpose and consideration of Epson's involvement in the market for wearable devices. After the launch of the new smart watch, it has been sold locally in Japan. It is estimated that the fastest in early July 2014 will also be in Taiwan is listed on the market.
Looking forward to the follow-up, Epson will continue to improve the functions of wearable products, including platform optimization, advanced information management, and expanding the application of products to other sports and measurement projects, which will be the direction that Epson will continue to work on.
