Based on memristor principle ReRAM or will be stored in rivers and lakes

SanDisk, a supplier of SSDs, is developing a new type of system memory that may replace memory and hard drives in the future. ReRAM stands for Resistive RAM, which combines the read/write speed of DRAM with the non-volatile nature of SSDs. In other words, the memory still remembers data when the power is turned off. If ReRAM has enough space, a PC with ReRAM will not need to load time. ReRAM is based on the memristor principle, and companies that are committed to commercializing ReRAM include HP, Elpida, Sony, Panasonic, Micron, Hynix, and others.
Basic electronics textbooks list three basic passive circuit elements: resistors, capacitors, and inductors; the four basic variables of the circuit are current, voltage, charge, and magnetic flux. Professor Leon Chua, who teaches at the University of California at Berkeley and is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Hsinchu Jiaotong University, predicted the existence of a fourth component 37 years ago. Memristor is actually a Non-linear resistors for memory function.
Researchers at Hewlett-Packard’s laboratories have recently demonstrated that memristors do exist, and research papers were published in the May 1 issue of Nature. Cai Shaojun, professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, published the paper "Memristor: Circuit Components Unknown" in 1971, which provided the original theoretical framework of the memristor and speculated that the circuit has a natural memory capability even if the power is interrupted. Also. Hewlett-Packard Lab's essay was titled "Finding Missing Memristor", echoing the predecessors' claims. When interviewed by telephone, Cai Shaoxi stated that he had not studied for decades after submitting his papers, so he was taken aback when Hewlett-Packard laboratory personnel contacted him several months ago.
The memristor enables the mobile phone to be used for a few weeks or more without charging, and the human computer starts up immediately after the computer is turned on. The notebook computer still memorizes the last-used information long after the battery is exhausted. The memristor will also challenge the flash memory currently used in handheld electronic devices because it has the ability to remember data even after power is turned off. Wafers made with this new discovery by Hewlett-Packard will store information faster than today's flash memory, consume less power and take up less space. Memristors are quite similar to human brains. Hewlett-Packard said that perhaps one day, computer systems can use memristors to associate memories of certain patterns like humans do. (text/solidot)
