ASEAN Forum on Development of Mining Situation Held

On the morning of September 19, the China-ASEAN Mining Development National Forum was held in Nanning. The forum was chaired by Jiang Jianjun, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Land and Resources. Secretary of the State Department of Mines and Energy of Cambodia Di Naguna, Deputy Minister of Energy and Minerals of Laos Sinawan Sussoufung, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Malaysia Datuk Mohammad Anri Binh Mohammed, Myanmar Mining Mr. Ye Mingshui, Director of the Division of Geographical Surveys, and the five distinguished guests including the Deputy Director of the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources of Vietnam, Mr. Li Guanghong, made wonderful speeches at the forum.

In his speech, Diane said that the annual China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum is a very important event for the mining sector in all countries in the region. The forum enabled the government and enterprises to have the opportunity to exchange opinions with each other and explore the current mining and resource markets in the world. This has played an important reference role in making decisions for the mining departments of various governments. He said that in the past few years, it is very important in the framework of ASEAN's mining cooperation that has been implemented for many years to further promote the mineral trade between ASEAN countries and China. This will be an important part of Cambodia's 2016-2020 plan. . It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the mining industry and make Chinese enterprises become an important model group in the Cambodian mineral industry. Diane hoped that with this opportunity, more Chinese companies could visit Cambodia to further explore the possibility of cooperation in the mining industry.

Sinawan Sufaruvon said that Laos is a country in ASEAN countries that relies heavily on mineral resources. We need more technical assistance and technical training. Through ASEAN's mining cooperation, Laos has benefited a lot from it. We have received many corresponding trainings in geological research. He pointed out that China is one of the largest economies in the world and believes that China will further provide economic and technical support to ASEAN countries and help us further implement the development plan for 2016-2020 and carry out more technology transfer. The transfer of experience has enabled more modern technologies and geological research techniques to be taught to ASEAN countries. He hoped that ASEAN countries can further develop mineral resources in an environmentally friendly manner to ensure the sustainable development of mineral resources in the region.

Mohammad Anri Bin Mohammed stated that the Malaysian government is very concerned about the development of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” proposed by China and has been reflected in many projects and action plans. Malaysia The government is very grateful to China for its negotiation and cooperation in the mining industry. Hope that with the development of the new Maritime Silk Road, the two sides will further increase trade volume and consolidate trade infrastructure. Malaysia welcomes any plan that can bring the next round of mining development opportunities. He said that a major focus of the “Belt and Road Initiative” is mining and development of mining, including the extraction of oil and gas and solid mining. Malaysia very much welcomes this plan and hopes to consolidate the mining of these mines. In the past, Malaysia had obtained China’s funds for mineral development and technical assistance, and hoped to obtain further assistance in the future. In addition, other minerals that can be exported, including copper ore, hope to strengthen cooperation with China's mining.

Ye Mingshui pointed out in his speech that mining has become an inseparable part of ASEAN’s economic development. This has been the case in the past and in the future, and has given us a powerful impetus. Myanmar is very active in the cooperation activities of the ASEAN region. Therefore, we hope that China and ASEAN countries can step up cooperation, especially in the mining industry. Through the maritime silk economy, we can strengthen the cooperation and development of all our countries.

In his speech, the representative of Vietnam introduced the main types of mineral resources in Vietnam and the investment policies in Vietnam's mining industry. He hoped to cooperate with more ASEAN countries, especially the mining industry in China.
