Apple Tree Summer Management

    Summer is the most vigorous growth period of apple trees. It not only increases the long leaves, accumulates nutrients, but also completes the expansion of young fruit and forms flower buds, laying a foundation for high yield in the next year. However, during this period, the weather is changing, and various disasters occur frequently, which often has a greater impact on the high quality and high yield of apples. Practice has shown that in addition to the routine management of apple trees after entering the summer, we should also do a good job of five defenses.

First, disease prevention and control   In summer, the temperature is high and the humidity is high. It is most susceptible to various pathogens and pests. Therefore, it is especially important to grasp the defense of pests and diseases. Its defense measures include: comprehensive drug prevention, manual prevention, and targeted prevention.

Second, anti-fertilization and lack of fertilizer   In summer, the apple tree needs a fat peak. If it is not timely, it will cause de-fertilization and affect the normal development of the tree and young fruit. Therefore, it should be topdressed in time. Usually for general trees, 50 kg of excrement or urea, superphosphate, potassium sulfate can be applied to each well and mixed into 2 kg at 3:10:5 . For fields with significant de-fertilization, it is also possible to mix the appropriate amount of urea aqueous solution with foliar spray at the time of spraying. At the same time, for apple trees with symptoms of deficiency, targeted remediation should be applied. For fruit trees with water-related heart disease due to calcium deficiency , 2-4 times of 0.5% calcium nitrate aqueous solution can be remedy by spraying 2-4 times from the fruit expansion period to 8-10 weeks before harvesting .

Third, anti-sunburn   In summer, the temperature is high and the sun is strong. The local temperature of the apple fruit sometimes rises above 45 °C and the sun burns. The symptom is that black spots appear first on the fruit surface, and then gradually enlarge until it rots, which has a great influence on the yield. Watering or spraying water can be used in a timely orchard to prevent temperature and humidification, and to prevent direct damage to fruits by high temperature and strong light.

Fourth, prevent premature aging   Summer is the peak period of apple tree nutrition consumption, often due to insufficient fertility, or premature aging caused by waterlogging disaster. Therefore, in the summer, in addition to timely fertilizer to prevent premature aging, it should also pay attention to anti-staining. Waterlogging is an important cause of premature aging of apple trees. Therefore, the ditch should be drained in time to make the rain dry, the garden does not accumulate water, and the garden soil is dry.

Five, anti-wind, hail   The weather changes greatly in summer, which is a frequent occurrence of disasters such as high winds and hail, and defense should be strengthened. For the hail disaster, the road to group defense should be taken. When there is a hailstorm, the cockroach bombs are fired in advance to eliminate the cockroaches, and remedial measures such as topdressing and watering are taken in time. For gale disasters, methods such as reins and hanging branches should be taken at the appropriate time before the disaster to suppress the wind blowing and blowing off the trunk or branches to reduce the wind hazard.
